The dates for the 2012 Summer Trail Run Series are now posted.
- BAZ the RD welcomes you to the 2012 Summer Trail Run Series in
the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Over the last 26 years of
organizing trail races in Southern Cal, I feel it is time for
runners in the Central Valley area to enjoy a new running adventure!
Many ultra runners know of my long-standing Shadow of the Giants 50K
in Fish Camp, but maybe not know of the many other miles of mountain
trails in the Sierras, just north of Oakhurst. The trails will be
well marked and aid stations will provide all your fluid needs as
required. Of course we do suggest you carry water at all times.
- The three race series will start June 23, 2012 and conclude
July 21, 2012. All race courses in the are in
Forest, near Oakhurst or Fish Camp, California. Distances are between 8
and 10.5 miles, at between 4,000 and 5,500' elevation. The weather
is usually clear blue sky and temperatures around 60 to 70 degrees
for the 8:00 AM start times. The races will go on, so come prepared
for all seasons.
- Soft drinks and seasonal fruit will be available to runners at
the finish line. Awards will be given to men and women winners plus
special age groups.
- Please note, you will receive only one series T-shirt, even if
you enter all races, but for those entering and FINISHING all
three races you will receive a special Series Sweat-Shirt. Other
give-away items will be offered in the form of a Raffle… just fun if
you stick around. A King and Queen of the Mountain Awards will be
given at the final race in Fish Camp. It could be, You!
- More race information will be including entry forms and course
maps will be available on-line. TRAILS ROCK merchandise will be
available, 10% of the profits will be donated to a local school in
the form of sporting goods for those kids who are really in need.
Kids under 12 wanting to run will require permission from their
parent, we want these events to be a family affair.
